BIOGRAPHY Dr. DeBakey, Chancellor Emeritus of Baylor College of Medicine, has performed more than 60,000 cardiovascular procedures and has trained thousands of surgeons who practice throughout the world. He is a pioneer in cardiovascular surgery and has invented numerous medical devices, techniques, and procedures while contributing to over 1,300 medical publications throughout his career. He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the United Nations in 1999 and was cited as "Living Legend" by the United States Library of Congress in 2000.
